Hats and caps used to be part of everyday life. They showed membership to a social class or indicated the profession of the wearer. Nowadays people wear caps not only to show belonging, but also to express their individuality. In the portrait series »Hamburgs Heads and Hats«, I present residents of Hamburg with their hats and caps and the little stories behind them. Five years ago I began speaking to people on the street. I‘d meet them and take a picture of them. After that, the stories found their own ways to me.
